This course provides a foundation in and understanding of how to use a family business consulting model that has its foundations in action-research methodology. Participants learn what it means to "be in the room" with members of a family business going through a transition process. This course features live actor scenarios in three online modules and ends with a 2.5 hour webinar or day-long in-person seminar in which the participants apply the consulting model to a complex case.

Participants in this course will gain a firm understanding of the nature and complexities of families of wealth, identify and explore management structures used by families of wealth, appreciate the unique challenges and opportunities encountered by professionals working with families of wealth, and acquire a set of multidisciplinary tools needed to work with families of wealth. The three online modules are concluded with a 2.5 hour webinar or day-long in-person seminar in which participants apply the material learned in the context of a complex case.

Participants will examine challenges to the myth of shirtsleeves-to-shirtsleeves in three generations; explore the diversity that exists within the classic three-circle model; identify and understand career management issues in family enterprises; and gain deeper understanding of conflict management in family enterprises across the generations. Four online modules with discussion groups, readings, and interactive exercises. This course ends with a 2.5 hour webinar.
